A day of car + eating and not much else. Having left the Lille rush-hour traffic, our autoroute journey took us via Reims, Troyes, Dijon, Bourg-en-Bresse, Lyon & Chambéry to Saint Michel de Maurienne, at the foot of the Col du Télégraphe and Col du Galibier. That was far enough, as the light was fading; we want to see these two cols in the full light of morning. 550 miles is plenty for one day anyway.
One of the finest-ever pizzas in the unprepossessing restaurant in la centre ville hit the spot. Good job, too; it was the only place open. The large Stella Artois did no harm either. Back to our hotel - used in Le Tour by Leopard Trek - to sleep the sleep of the just.
